Janine has been celebrating book week with local schools and students.
Each year, many schools and public libraries from all over Australia spend a week celebrating books and Australian authors and illustrators.
Classroom teachers, teacher librarians and public librarians develop activities, offer competitions and tell stories relating to a theme to highlight the importance of reading.
The Barnett Government’s changes to the contracting arrangements for the repair of Homeswest housing has resulted in a backlog of more than 7000 outstanding work orders.
"The Barnett Government’s changes have forced thousands of Homeswest tenants to wait for maintenance and repairs to their homes," Janine said.
Local MLA's Janine Freeman, Rita Saffioti and Ken Travers visited the works for the Reid Highway Alexander Drive interchange.
"It's great to see works finally started on this important project" said Janine.
"This intersection has been the number one black spot in the Perth Metropolitan area for a number of years and after years of trying to get this project up and running, it's wonderful that Reid Highway will be safer through this intersection."
Janine co-hosted a seniors morning tea with Margaret Quirk at the Alexander Heights Senior Centre today.
After a fabulous morning tea, guests were treated to a presentation from WA Assistance Dogs and the musical styling of June Oronze.
Federal candidate for Cowan, Chas Hopkins (pictured above) came along to show his support during the morning.
The day was also a special celebration for an Alexander Heights Seniors stalwart, Una Harrison who had a birthday.
Janine attended the Mirrabooka NAIDOC Family Fun Day today.
The highlight of the day was the traditional dancers (pictured above) who mesmerised the crowd with their songs.
It was great to to help celebrate the rich history, unique traditions and culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people,” Janine said.
The City of Stirling Inspirational Citizens Awards acknowledge outstanding service to the community.
